Jennifer Maitra, MD

Board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics, Dr. Jennifer Maitra is passionate about providing excellent care for her patients. She began practicing medicine in 2002, with clinical interests in obesity and weight loss. Twenty years ago Dr. Maitra lost 65 pounds, and she maintains her weight loss today. Her personal experience gives her significant insight into how she can help her patients achieve and sustain weight loss. Her other areas of clinical interest include preventative medicine and pediatrics. She works with patients ranging from infants to adults, performing adult physical exams, well-woman exams, well-child exams and Medicare annual wellness visits.

Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, and attended medical school at the University of Illinois. She completed her residency at the University of Texas in Houston, with a focus on both internal medicine and pediatrics.

When she's not helping her patients, Dr. Maitra enjoys exercise and physical fitness, cooking, baseball and reading. She has been married to her husband, Dr. Subhasis Maitra, for 25 years. They are Midwest people from Wisconsin and Chicago, and have been in practice together in the Goodyear/Litchfield Park/Avondale community for 16 years. They have three children–one in high school, one in grade school and a toddler. Dr. Maitra and her family love to hike and camp all over Arizona, especially the Grand Canyon. They are also great fans of the Chicago Cubs.
